There is beauty in the stark, quiet vistas of the high parts of the world. From soaring mountains to elevated islands, the sheer height of some places never fail to take our breath away. In preparation for our planned vegan national parks tours, we’ve been looking at great destinations where the clouds touch the earth. Welcome to this week’s Travel Tuesday blog.
This week, we’ve got some great photos to show you, gathered from the galleries of the adventurous folk of Instagram. We’ve got high cliffs, scenic isles, gorgeous mountains and more in store for your viewing pleasure.

Our first pick of the week takes us to the Slovenian Mountains. This shot of Vrsic Pass by @greg_aka_bibi looks exciting, with the bright blue hue of the upper atmosphere encouraging a sense of adventure. The way the sunlight shines on the camera highlights the altitude of such a place. It must be amazing to walk through this pass.
Next up is @joa.melo.ph’s immersive shot of El Gigantes, Cordoba in Argentina. The way the image is framed makes it look like you’re on the first step towards a long journey through the hills and stones. We miss going on long walks through scenic landscapes like this and hikes across rising earth and shrubbery. How about you?
@fabian__ignacio presents the Punta de Lobos of the Pichilemu commune. This area is known for its high winds and waves, perfect for various water sports like surfing. Here we see the remote, white and black stone isle of the coast stand stoically amidst the crashing and foaming waves, a solid natural edifice amidst a dynamic waterscape.
Here see the highest mountain in the Americas, courtesy of @fotos.del.mar. Aconcagua’s vista does not give any hint about distance or space, and because there is no human figure in the photo to provide a benchmark of size, it really does look limitless in scope. Hiking up such high places can really put the sheer height of things into context.
Our final pick of the week belongs to @hrc.photographs, showcasing a gorgeous natural lightshow over the Krabi Islands. Here we see the radiance of the setting sun peek through the light blanket of clouds, creating natural shafts of light that shine down on the green shapes of the isles below. Imagining riding a boat as you take in this wonderful atmosphere. This is the kind of beauty that we wish to revisit.
