The beautiful thing about visual art is how it can simulate motion on an otherwise still frame. From the various techniques of comic artists to the dynamic shapes and strokes of painters, the motion of still things is really something to behold. When you take a picture of a place, you also create motion in stillness, capturing the movement of the world itself in a still frame, a piece of art in itself. Welcome to this week’s Travel Tuesday blog.

This week, we’ve got a fresh batch of great photos to show you, gathered from the great folk of Instagram. We’ve got mountains, creeks and so much more.

Ready? Let’s go!

Our first pick of the week belongs to @cjmaddock, showcasing a gorgeous view of Pilbara, a vast and vivid locale with an abundance of subterranean biodiversity. Even if you don’t peer below the earth to admire the various critters below, you can see the gorgeous colors and lighting of the aboveground. The sunset hue of clouds is especially delightful to look at.

Next up is the cool blue hues of Pora Pora via @wonderfu.places11. Here we see a small flat island amidst a calm expanse of water, gradually darkening as it reaches the green elevated land behind it. The placement of certain factors in images, namely the lone coconut tree, really enhances the visual impact of it. There’s both a sense of festiveness and loneliness, a celebration of life and isolation from it in this single shot.

@angie_highlights presents a shot of Montpellier, namely a well-preserved building beneath a clouded sky. The almost symmetrical formation of this landmark gives a sense of stability, especially with the gloomy pall of the clouds. Whatever rain may arrive, this landmark will last it.

Gaze upon this gorgeous field of flowers by @h_k_leer4, from the peak of Choamsan. Don’t you just love it when you have the chance to wonder at the beauty of nature up close? Here the glory of blooming flowers can be experienced high above the ground, close to the sky with the chill breeze of mountain air. It just looks so comfy.

Our final pick of the week belongs to @dekanni.nz, presenting a placid view of Kerosene Creek. Despite its name, this place is a safe hot spring, a fact that you can see clearly from the steam that rises from the water. There’s a sense of calm and relaxation from this image, a feeling that you’re safe amidst the gentle sounds of the creek and the woods around you.

That’s it for this week. Be sure to visit us next week for a fresh batch of great photos to admire and be inspired by. When it’s safe for you to travel again, why not showcase your own experiences?
