The new year is only a few days away, and after the fireworks fly and the sounds of celebrating people fade, 2021 will be here. The current year was an interesting experience, to say the least. Vegan holidays were kind of scarce, and a lot of planned expeditions had to be moved to future dates. With that said, we’ve still had some great experiences this 2020, and in the coming year, let’s have a few more. Welcome to this week’s Travel Tuesday blog.

This week, we’ve got some great photos in store from you from the galleries of the great folk of Instagram. We’ve got shimmering skies and roaring waterfalls, imposing slopes and gentle currents, locales that would make for great destinations for future travels.

Ready to explore? Let’s go!

Our first pick belongs to @mybonnietravels, showcasing a firm wooden bridge in the Scottish Highlands. There’s a kind of magic to bridges, especially those built amidst the busy movements of nature. Over creeks and streams and wooded crevasses, made of wood or stone or both in equal measure, a bridge is a structure that connects one part of a path to another. Crossing bridges in urban locales is just commuting. In places like this, crossing a bridge feels like more than that.

Our next pick is by @tripgether.th, presenting Wat Chulabhorn Wanaram in Thailand. This temple is best known for its curved bamboo shoots, which form a sort of cave over the dirt path. There’s a sense of calm and serenity from this photo. Maybe it’s the color green. We wonder what it would be like to walk under these bamboo shoots. Maybe someday in the future.

@traveling_bently presents this magnificent shot of Akaka Falls, Hawaii, the tumultuous waters of the waterfall outlined by the mossy green of the cliff face. The misty specks of sunshine in the photo just gives off a majestic yet familiar vibe to this locale, almost like it was simultaneously a place far away and a locale within your own backyard. Dynamic lighting gives off that weird impression.

Our next pick is by @isi_organics, showcasing the natural beauty of the Australian wilderness. Here we see varying hues of nature’s green, along with the rich earthy colors of the soil below contrasting with the blue sky above. Here, the trees and shrubbery look remarkably like corals, far beneath the blue sea, miles away from this slice of outback. Yes, a slice of outback. That is what this image is, a small part of a bigger and beautiful whole.

We conclude this Travel Tuesday with @carlosmiyama’s absolutely gorgeous shot of the nighttime sky in Perito Moreno National Park. Here we see the true brilliance and majesty of a night sky far away from the smoke and pollution of the city, a dazzling display of stars and galaxies that adorn the firmament above the world. Of course, the earth below is quite pretty too, with the white trunks of fallen trees and the blue slopes of mountains helping set the scene for the starry night above. Ah, and to think that we as a species lived under this beautiful sight for thousands of years.

That’s it for this week. Be sure to visit us next week for a fresh batch of photos. When it’s safe to travel again, why not join in on our weekly celebration?
