Welcome back! It’s been a wild few months, hasn’t it? Well, we’re in the last legs of the year, and while the world is still slowly recovering from the effects of the pandemic, it’s good to cultivate your adventurous spirit for when it’s safe to travel the world again. Welcome to this week’s Travel Tuesday blog.

This week, we’ve compiled a great selection of photos from all over the world, showing that despite these uncertain conditions, there are still places with life and vitality. We’ve got waterfalls, mountains, and other beautiful locales to show you.

Ready? Let’s go!

Let’s start with someplace high up in the air. @sophie.travel.photography presents this gorgeous shot from Ambuluwawa, Sri Lanka, on a balcony with wooden railings overlooking the lush landscape below. Here the distant misty mountains seemed framed by the pillars, like a secondary layer of presentation that further shows how art-like this view is. Breathing fresh air is one of the best experiences when going to such high places.

Next up is a dynamic landscape from Iceland, shot by @planet_niceland. We say “dynamic” because just look at those hills and slopes! Some landscapes have a sleepy or relaxed feel to them, as if the earth is at rest while grass and trees grow above it. This? This shot does not show an idle land, but a locale with rising surfaces that belie some tectonic activity. Mountains grow by inches, after all. How would this particular place change in the next thousand years?

Ah, the Azores, specifically Sao Miguel, presented by @pikotilla. The islands in the Azores all have their own unique sites and destinations. Here in Sao Miguel, this lake, with its calm waters and verdant green surroundings, is probably just one of the many great sights to see in this scenic and temperate island. We love the way the grass in the foreground seems to glow in the sunlight, and how it eventually leads down into the small vale where the lake is.

Some of the best locales are those that host natural life. From inland forests to lush mangroves, the green parts of the earth are beautiful and exciting to see. Take this shot of a mangrove-flanked river in Krabi, Thailand. @iamkiie really captures the placidness and serenity that such a locale exudes. Have you ever heard of “forest bathing”? Well, we’re sure that you can’t do that literally here, but this place reminds us of those calming locales used for such practices.

@homeoffriends presents our final pick of the week, a gorgeous shot of Sipi Falls in Uganda. Here we see both the roaring power of cascading river water and resilience of the trees and shrubbery that stubbornly cling to the cliff face. The wisps of misty air and hard, almost limestone-like textures of this waterfall give it a sense of depth and hardness that makes it quite striking. We can only imagine what it feels like up close.

That’s it for this week. Be sure to visit us next Tuesday for a fresh batch of photos to admire and be inspired by. When it’s safe to travel again, why not join in on our weekly celebrations?
