The sun is an ever-present part of our lives, our primary source of light, warmth and Vitamin D. Its radiance is the reason why all life on Earth is as beautiful and bountiful as we see it today. Even if our travels are restricted and/or made inconvenient because of the pandemic, it’s still important for us to get as much sunlight as we can, even when staying at home. Just like vegan foods, a daily dose of sunlight can keep us well and healthy. Welcome to this week’s Travel Tuesday blog.

This week, we’ve compiled a great selection of IG photos from the folk of Instagram, showcasing some of the best places on earth that the light touches (pardon our Lion King nostalgia.) We’ve got bright sunrises, misty woodlands and more in store for you in this week’s gallery.

Ready? Let’s go!

Let’s begin with a magnificent sunset shot from Maui by @thepoetryzonewithsam. While sunsets may often signal the end of the day, it can also signal the beginning of a calm and peaceful night ahead. Here we see the orange sphere of the sun shining its last few rays on the wisps of cloud overhead, while the waters below continue to crash against the unseen shore. Sunsets can be melancholic, but they can also be inspiring.

Check out this bountiful cascade! @ceylonarak presents this great upwards shot of Lover’s Leap, Sri Lanka, a pale, silk-like spray of water against the rough rocks. The texture of the rocks in particular reminds us of those aesthetic waterfalls that you see implemented in people’s yards. Except, this is the real deal, and with a name like Lover’s Leap, you can’t get any more aesthetically pleasing than that.

Let’s break form and show off another great setting sun as our third pic! @viajandovivomejor presents this pleasing aerial shot of Nong Khiaw, a pleasant twilight scene that shows both the water, the sky, and the town itself. The pinkish hue of the fading light just makes this photo so comfy and peaceful. We’d like to visit this place one day if only to see such a sunset in person.

Here we see the misty woods of Anaga, in the Canary Islands. This shot by @sebarolo.tf is one of mystery and wonder, an atmospheric photo with twisting branches that rise into the pale light above. Ethereal locales like this make us wistful of those days when you can stroll into a park or other forested area, pretending that you’re in another world.

Our final pic of the week belongs to @anry_74, presenting an old aqueduct in Nommeveski, Estonia. The aqueduct almost looks like a ladder or moss-coated railway tracks, a path leading deeper into the autumn-hued forest. There’s something so magical about this photo that’s hard to describe, a storybook quality that doesn’t seem real. And yet, it is, far off in Estonia, an aqueduct that invokes a sense of nostalgia.

That’s it for this week, be sure to visit us next week for a fresh batch of photos to admire and be inspired by. When it’s safe to travel again, why not join in?
