Our first pick of the week belongs to @olarjohn, presenting a wonderful shot of Tequendama Falls, a gorgeous body of cascading water near the capital city of Colombia. The shape of the landscape around this waterfall is particularly beautiful, with the textures of the cliffs providing an eye-catching aesthetic to the locale itself. Such a gorgeous place!
Next up is @jon_trevork’s photo from Silverthorne. Here we see a mountain partially obscured by a mass of cloud, which also covers half of the image. It’s really interesting how a place that isn’t as colorful as a warmer locale still has unique and eye-striking textures. We can almost feel the biting chill of the winds in this high place.
Itsukushima Shrine looks grand in this photo by @felixlimanta. The shrine is well known for its torii gate. Torii gates have a sacred significance in the Shinto faith of Japan, and the particular torii gate of this place is situated near the water, so when it is high tide, it looks like it is floating. Places like this contain a sense of subtle grandness, a kind of beauty that’s subdued but still easily felt.
@swiss_hiking_inspirations presents this beautiful photo of Lake Gelmer in Switzerland, also known as Gelmersee. This lake in the highlands is absolutely stunning, especially with the bright rays of the sun coloring the blue sky above. From the white stones to the shimmering grass, this lake is great to look at, and must be amazing to visit.
Our final pick of the week belongs to @sunsetsonourmind, showcasing a gorgeous view from Vang Vieng in Laos. We love how the red flowers in the foreground contrast with the soothing blue of the distant, misty mountains in the background, with clouds obscuring the sun over the horizon. This shot truly is the picture of tranquility, a feeling that we all crave and hold close to our hearts.
