If you’ve been following our blog for a while now, then you’ll know just how passionate we can be about vegan cuisine. When you’re working from home and living your day to day life unable to go out as often as you’d like, you’ve got to find ways to maintain that spark of positivity in yourself. Culinary endeavors are the passion of many vegans out there, including us, and keeping that flame alive is one way to make our 2020 days happy. Welcome to this week’s Food Friday blog!

Halloween is almost here! Let’s celebrate with some lively colors for the cold nights of festivity and spookiness. This week, we’ve got a varied batch of vegan dishes for our gallery, from spongy dhokla to sweet ice cream sandwiches. Celebrate All Hallow’s with something delightful for your Friday.

Ready? Let’s dig right in!

Let’s start with some familiar colors! You’ve probably seen this color combination before, haven’t you? Well, @zoetkes_aan’s sugar free lemon poppyseed cake shares some visual similarities to some common vegan breakfast smoothies. However, with such an inviting presentation, we’re sure that this cake’s taste is anything but ordinary. Yum.

Next up is @cassie.abetz’s stack of vegan ice cream sandwiches, with just the right amount of lighting to highlight their sweet textures. We overuse the word “texture” a lot, but it can’t be helped when it’s something that we commonly see highlighted in a great vegan food photo. The textures of these ice cream sandwiches belie their origins as cookies, and we’re sure that they make for a great dessert snack to munch on.

Here’s something savory for our mostly sweet vegan gallery. @beautyfullofgrace presents this lovely vegan food photo of her dhokla, a bright yellow savory cake with a spongy consistency and a rich taste. What can you expect from something made from rice and chickpeas? Something delicious, that’s what! We’re always glad to add unique vegan cultural dishes to our weekly galleries. Like kralan and ratatouille, this dhokla shows vegan cuisine isn’t alien to the culinary cultures of the world.

Have a donut! @veganchefmaryg presents this striking rose-glazed pistachio donut just screams flavor. Look at those rose petals adorning it! We’d be glad to savor something like this one day. A good moist donut can really make or break one’s afternoon break time, when you’ve just finished a Zoom meeting and have to prepare for another one in fifteen minutes. All in all, this donut just gives off positive vibes for us. How about you?

Our final pick belongs to @bis_lov, presenting these well-designed raw vegan brownies. With little to no-bake and only using the freshest plant-based dessert ingredients, @bis_lov made these striking bite-sized beauties, a testament to the ingenuity and skill of dedicated vegan foodies everywhere. The berries that adorn the brownie tops were a nice touch too.

That’s it for this week. Be sure to visit us next week for a fresh batch of vegan food photos to admire and be inspired by. Want to join in on our weekly celebration of vegan cuisine?
