When’s the last time that you’ve been to a vegan restaurant? Well, aside from the food, one of the things that we miss about visiting restaurants is the ambience. The clean tables, the cool air, the artful menus, all those nice aesthetic things that characterize a bistro that serves plant-based cuisine. It’ll take a bit longer for us to go back to our meatless meeting spots and culinary cruises, but while we’re indoors, let’s make the most of our time. Welcome to this week’s Food Friday blog.

This week, we’ve compiled a set of great vegan food photos by the dedicated culinary folk of Instagram, from sweet, dairy-free delights to savory and filling meals. Our selection this week reminds us of the many vegan bistros that we frequented before the pandemic, and our chosen photos have such a quality to them too.

Feeling hungry? Let’s dig right in!

First up is a slice of nutritious plant-based dessert! As most of us are in quarantine, who’s stopping you from preparing dessert before the main course? Well, we know we’d love to sample @piggyinthekitchen’s thick no-bake vegan blueberry cheesecake. Just looking at it makes us want to make a no-bake cake ourselves.

Potato hash brown wraps! Just look at it! Wow! @veganfoodinmelb presents this absolutely mouth-watering piece of vegan cuisine! It’s even got a simple and easy to follow recipe and instruction list! We’re passionate about hash browns and wraps of all kinds, and seeing both of them together makes us jump for joy in glee. How about you? Got any recipes that make you excited?

Today I found out that that grassy flowering plant we had in our front yard all along is actually edible! Tulbhagia Violacea, aka society garlic is the name and you can eat all its parts including leaves, rizhomes, stems and flowers. It indeed has a light garlicky flavor and it looked and tasted so good on my avocado toast! What are your edibles in your garden? . . . #avocadotoast #breakfast #veganbreakfast #ediblegarden #societygarlic #tulbahiaviolacea #healthybreakfast #avocado #homegrown #plantbased #dairyfree #wholefoods #vegan #vegano #veganfood #healthylifestyle #veganfortheanimals #eatplantsnotfriends #veganfortheplanet #healthyfood #sustainablefood #crueltyfree #healthyeating #compassion #govegan #veganfoodshare #vegansofinstagram #veganfoodie #instafood #whatveganseat

Talk about a dish fresh from the garden! @hello.veganlife presents this lovely avocado toast, made complete by pieces of sliced tomato and the various parts of a society garlic, a kind of flower that looks and tastes quite good. We’re a sucker for artfully-presented vegan dishes, and this one just looks so colorful and pleasant to the eye.

There’s something so unapologetically appetizing about this homemade vegan nachos photo by @callmesomeonespecial. Maybe it’s the colors of the corn chips and ingredients. Maybe it’s the large glob of sour cream atop the food. Maybe it’s the lighting. Whatever the case, this piece of tasty vegan food is a snack to behold, and to savor too.

Our last pic belongs to @karakauai, presenting this great pair of vegan sweet potato donuts. Sweet potato once more proves to be a versatile ingredient! Just look at how glazed and delightful this dessert is. Donuts are a comfy food to eat while drinking coffee on a rainy afternoon, and these plant-based beauties are just perfect for those times you want to stare out the window and think about life.

Well, that’s it for this week. Be sure to visit us next week for a fresh batch of vegan food photos to admire and be inspired by. Want to join in on our weekly celebration?
